Hourly Wage
The City of El Paso seeks to engage an outside attorney firm, based in San Antonio, $535.00 per hour to provide legal assistance in connection with the creation of a TIRZ, Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone, a component of the 'downtown plan'. The letter of engagement was signed on October 13, 2006.
Yet again, taxpayer money goes to firms outside of El Paso. Are there no attorneys in El Paso who are worthy of consideration in this matter? What is the hourly wage of those living and working within the boundaries of the proposed TIRZ? Does the City of El Paso not have attorneys on the pbubliic's payroll, that it must bring in outside and out of town assistance?
